It seems that the ‘Upload Files’ (step 6 of the ad posting process) becomes broken if someone attempts to upload an image that doesn’t meet its expectations.

For example if you upload an image that is larger than the maximum allowed file size, you get the error message and a box under the Images separator [  Enabled * (X) ] with a green bar. Trying to use the red (X) button to get rid of it does nothing. If you try to upload a new image you get ‘You can’t add (image file name) because there are not remaining slots for files of that type’.

You have to abandon the ad process or proceed without an image.

Sometimes it gives no reason why the image did not upload (wrong dimensions or file type perhaps)?

Maybe a notation of what file types and max/min dimensions along with the existing file size limitation notation.

I don’t know if this is a bug in your plugin or a problem only on my site?

I might of found what is breaking the File Upload, I have Ninja Firewall installed and it was filtering my test images (an error in its firewall policy configuration).

However if a file fails to upload for whatever reason the plugin should be able to detect the file is not there and not add it to the images list or at least allow the delete/remove button to work to get rid of a failed upload.

I had my first client run into the max/min dimensions issue, the poor guy seems to hit every problem he could possibly have trying to post an ad on my site.

Is it possible to have the AWPCP use the WordPress Media Upload? It would likely eliminate the issues we’re having here. Also I have an image resize plugin that automatically reduces image size if the WP Media uploaded images are too big.

If not at least have a max/min dimensions outlined below the ‘You can upload # images of up to # MB each’ or have AWPCP resize the images to fit the image upload parameters.

I know I’ve been pointing out a lot of issues lately, however despite the needed improvements this plugin has been the best I’ve tried so far. I hope that you take my forum posts as useful insight to help guide the development of this awesome WordPress plugin.

Hi Wayne,

We definitely appreciate your insights and suggestions. We are constantly working to improve the plugin and it is usually people like you who help outline things that will make the plugin. Finding the time and the bandwidth to accommodate all of the possible improvements, though, is another story. I will make sure this gets added to the list of enhancements.
