Sitemap and URL in 4. edition

Hi AWPCP Team,

In the V4. edition there are enhancement notes as:

Enhancement – The XML Sitemap module is no longer necessary. Third party plugins that support Custom Post Types are now able to see ads and should include them in the website’s sitemap automatically.

That statement means,

1./I may disable XML Sitemap plugin or I have to disable XML Sitemap plugin?

2./ Should I erase the existing sitemap and generate/upload a new one with Yoast? (I'm using Yoast on my site.)

Enhancement – Allow ads to be displayed on their own page (like a single post) instead of showing them through the Show Ad page. Ads will be displayed on their own page by default on new installations.

1./ Show Ad page will no longer exist after V4 update or coexisting with new "like a single post" outlook.

2./ Does this "single post-like" outlook result a new URL structure?

3./ If it is a new URL structure, how will the facebook - ads previously shared on facebook - point to the

older ads on the website?

Hi kerdezo,

Thank you for your post.

For the XML plugin, you can safely remove that plugin and use Yoast to build a new sitemap. There is no need to remove the old one.

For the other question, I am not sure about the answer there. I will ask a developer, because I can see that the URLs are different in 4.x so I'm not sure what that means for previous posts. I'll update this issue once I hear back.

Hi kerdezo,

Thank you for your patience while we have been working to get to these questions for you.

Here is what the developer said:

---------------------------------------

1./ Show Ad page will no longer exist after V4 update or coexisting with new "like a single post" outlook.

Show ad page will still exist after v4 update and will coexist with the "new single post on its own page", you can choose to keep showing the ad under the show ad page or display each ad on its own page under the seo settings here: wp-admin/admin.php?page=awpcp-admin-settings&sg=seo-settings. Urls will stay the same regardless if you choose to use the show ad page or use the single post on its own page.

2./ Does this "single post-like" outlook result a new URL structure?

Urls stay the same regardless.
