Hi There,

I am working with AWPCP for a few weeks now. I like it, but it is very much to read and try and try over again... But it is going well.

I am sure I would be have more questions, but for my website this is the important one. My whole website is based on only two things: Offering and Seeking.

So I would like to have each particular Classified landing on the right page. So I need two Classifieds pages. How can I realize that, it is very important for my website.

I have a home landingpage, then the "Offeringpage" and then the "Seekingpage". I hope you can give me some positive info, thankslot!

More questions are coming, but I take one step a time ;-).

Thanks, Deborah

Hi Deborah,

Thanks for your post!

If your two different ad types are separated by categories, you can use the shortcode AWPCPSHOWCAT to display those on separate pages. All of our supported shortcodes are listed here: http://awpcp.com/forum/faq/val.....awpcpshort

That is currently the only way to accomplish this.

Hi,

Thanks, i need a little time to figure that out.

Because I only want two; do I make (for excample) the Offeringpage the AWPCPclassified and the Seekingpage on the Categories page or do i make two categories pages for the both?

And when visiters place an Classified, do they have to choose on whitch one? How do I do that? With the two shortcodes on the PLACEAD page?

I am working on it now, but it takes awhile.

Thanks, Deborah

Hi Deborah,

You have a lot of options for setting this up. For what you want, I would recommend setting up a page called "Offeringpage" and then the "Seekingpage" and then creating categories only for Offering and Seeking. You can then leave the main classifieds on a general page, and they can also choose the categories from that page as well.

When someone submits an ad, they have to choose the category. If you only have Offering and Seeking as your categories, that will put their ad in the right place. You can also create subcategories for all of the other types of ads as well for each main category.

I hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions or issues!

Hi,

I am sorry and I feel a little stupid, but I cannot find out how to do it.

Yes, I have the two pages ''Offering" and ''Seeking''. But I cannot find out how to get the right categorie on it. I try to explain what I have now:

My menu has 5 Items, Home - Seeking - Offering - Contact - Sign up.

When I make a test ad for the Seeking it comes on the Seeking page. When I make a test ad for the Offering it also comes on the Seekingpage.

They are on the right place when you must choose the categorie (in the AWPCP button), but I want it to come on my Offering page. How do I do that? Do you understand what I mean? I don't know how to explain it better, I am sorry.

And can I move  the ''Choose Categorie" thing? I don't need it on my website. It is too many ''Choose categorie''. I only have two and they are in my menu. I don't have subcategories either.

My website is a very basic one.

An other question is that I want to have the ads for free, only members can put ads or respond to one. Do I need a membership plugin for that? I cannot find anything with login orso on the AWPCP documentation.

I think I have more questions, but for now this is it. The Offering and Seeking part is the main thing to understand and to get right. Thanks a lot for the help, I appreciate it!

Greets, Deborah

Hi Deborah,

I'm glad to hear that you were able to find the answer!

For your membership question, the plugin does have some basic registration settings, as discussed in our documentation here: https://awpcp.com/documentation/#settings-registration

If you need more restrictions/options and choose to use a membership plugin, there are some good ones that work with AWPCP. For example, Wishlist, Restrict Content Pro, eMember, s2Member, Simple Members Only etc. Here are some more suggestions: http://www.wpexplorer.com/word.....gins-2014/

NOTE: We integrate with ANY membership plugin that correctly adheres to the WordPress Codex implementation of the login and registration API for WordPress. That means a membership plugin must correctly handle the “redirect_to” URL parameter as noted in the codex.

I hope that helps.

Hi There,

My question has not really anything to do with the subject above, but it is the same site , so i choosed to ask it here.

I worked the last week on a membership plugin, to get it functioned with my AWPCP. It was the plugin WP Members, everything was fine untill I activated WP forms. It shut my website down. My server host Site ground helped me to get it activated again.

I don't want to use WPMembers anymore.

The only thing i need is a sort of registration, custimors only pay once, after the paying they can put an ad and contact others. They need to login to do that.  Is that possible with only AWPCP or do i need another membership plugin? The less plugins, the better, i think.

In your answer above you talk about the registrations settings. If i go to my registrations settings i see a warning about the LOG-IN URL: I only need to fill it in when i have a Membership Plugin with Log-in.

That means i will need a membership plugin or not? I am sorry, it's not clear to me how AWPCP handles the registration with login for payed members, maybe i missed it somewhere in al the info.

Thanx, Deborah

Hi Deborah,

Sorry for any confusion here and I'm sorry that you had that experience!

AWPCP allows you to require registration for two things: placing an ad and replying to an ad. Those settings are under Classifieds > Settings > Registration. We use the regular WordPress login function for these things. The other two fields on this tab are only used if you are using another plugin to handle registration. If you are not, then you can leave those fields blank.

So, those are the only things that AWPCP will do for your site. If that's enough, then great! If you need to do something like restrict access to certain pages, then you need a membership plugin.

I hope that helps clarify. Please let me know if you have any other questions or issues!
