Hi hakan,

Thanks for your question. The image you sent didn’t come through, but I think I understand what you are looking for here.

The Regions Module will allow you to add location-based filtering to your ads, and you can filter your search by category as well. However, what you are describing here is not something that the plugin can accommodate straight out of the box. You will have to do some customizations here to make this work.

Hacking the plugin comes with it’s own risks and complications–like the fact that any changes you make can break other aspects of the plugin and any issues you have need to be tested against an unmodified plugin for support. If you can reproduce on the unmodified plugin, we can fix it. But any updates or changes have to be maintained by you in your custom version. It’s a pretty big hassle.

If you’d like to proceed with that and have the right skill set, you can learn more about that here: http://docs.businessdirectoryp…..ation.html

the search box like on this site : https://www.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de/ . Yes i dont want to click on extended search option to search for location. this should be able on main search function. You say me just to add a CSS file for that, thats what i understood?

But also i want a dropdown box for my category section, such as on the website i postet.

Thank you

Hi hakan,

Sorry for any confusion here. Thanks for sending that link. You will have to customize the plugin to get what you are looking for here, and that will take some advanced developer skills. It’s not just a matter of custom CSS, unfortunately. I realize now that in my earlier response, I sent you the wrong documentation — here is what you need:

And i dont know what kind of new code i need to enter for the search box i want to have. I mean the search box i want to have is really simple. Maybe you can help me with much more details. Would be awesome.

Hi hakan,

Thanks for your reply. I would recommend hiring a professional to help you with this, as hacking the plugin comes with it’s own risks and complications–like the fact that any changes you make can break other aspects of the plugin and any issues you have need to be tested against an unmodified plugin for support. If you can reproduce on the unmodified plugin, we can fix it. But any updates or changes have to be maintained by you in your custom version. It’s a pretty big hassle.

Because of the risk here, this is not something we outline in detail for users. However, there are a few great resources to help you out here.

1) Tilden Tasks: https://tildentasks.com/ They will also do longer WordPress tasks, but they break it down to 1 task per day.
2) Codeable, which has WordPress expert developers available for short-term projects: https://codeable.io/
3) The last option would be hiring a developer on Upwork (formerly known as oDesk) to help out if you think this is beyond your current skill set. http://upwork.com There’s a lot of decent folks on there as well.

I think i need this:

Categories Selector showing in the Listings page can be generated using the awpcp_render_category_selector( $params ) function, defined in includes/helpers/widgets/categories-dropdown.php.

That function is just a wrapper for AWPCP_Categories_Selector_Component::render( $params ), defined in frontend/class-categories-selector-component.php.

If the user wants just the dropdown, he can modify the following code to render it:

$dropdown = new AWPCP_CategoriesDropdown();
echo $dropdown->render( $params );

AWPCP_CategoriesDropdown is defined in includes/helpers/widgets/categories-dropdown.php.

You can use $params to override the default value for any of the following configuration parameters:

array(
‘context’ => ‘default’,
‘name’ => ‘category’,
‘label’ => __( ‘Ad Category’, ‘another-wordpress-classifieds-plugin’ ),
‘required’ => true,
‘selected’ => null,
‘placeholders’ => array(),
‘hide_empty’ => $hide_empty
)

Please refer to the files mentioned above to understand how each parameter works.

How exactly can i do this?
