I have been using AWPCP for some time now and have lots of live adverts on my website. However, I'd like to make new users register to use the website before placing an ad. But what will happen to those people who already have adverts on the website if I do that, if they didn't need to be registered users at the time of placing their ads? Will they still be able to edit their ads with the original access key or will they not be able to access their adverts?

Hi Sally,

I am researching this answer for you and needed a developer to help. I will post again once I hear back. Thanks for being patient.

Hi Sally,

Thanks for your patience here.

I just heard back from the developer regarding the issue you reported, and here is what he said:

The Edit Ad page will still accept an email address and an access key as long as you don’t specify a listing ID on the URL: http://photodirectory.website/.....p/edit-ad/.

There is, however, one possible problem for this customer. When the option to require users to login to post classifieds is enabled, the Edit Ad link that appear at the top of most plugin pages and the content of the Edit Ad Link placeholder no longer show up for anonymous users:

That means that unless the customer puts a link to that page somewhere else on the website, old customers may have a hard time editing their listings.

One way of doing that is to update the Single Listing template to add a message similar to:
TMQegwy.pngImage Enlarger

The highlighted portion of the template is shown below:

Click here to edit your listing using your email address and an access key.

The customer would have to do the necessary adjustments to make that look right on the website.

I'm testing placing an ad as a registered user, (having previously not having any problems when allowing users to place ads without being registered). When the ad has been placed, clicking 'edit ad' takes me to the homepage?

Hi Sally,

Sorry that you ran into issues with this!

We are happy to help troubleshoot this issue with you. Can you tell me a bit more?
- What version of WP are you running here? 4.96
- What exact version of AWPCP? (number, please) 3.85
- What exact version of any other AWPCP Modules? (number, please)
- Can you please send a link to the affected ad?
- Can you please provide screenshots of the error you are seeing?

We should also do a check for theme and plugin conflicts. Please conduct the test and let me know the results. Here is an article about how to test for theme and plugin conflicts with AWPCP, which may help pinpoint the issue: http://awpcp.com/forum/faq/how.....conflicts/

That will help us troubleshoot the issue a little faster. Please let me know.

Hi Sally,

Thanks for that information. Have you tried a conflict test to rule that out? Here is an article about how to test for theme and plugin conflicts with AWPCP, which may help pinpoint the issue: http://awpcp.com/forum/faq/how.....conflicts/

If that produces no results, then can we please get WP admin and FTP credentials to your site to look into this further?

We need the following information to debug the issue:
– A link to this forum thread
– WP admin username
– WP admin password
– WP login URL
– FTP username
– FTP password
– FTP servername/IP address

Contact us with a link to this forum thread and that information here: https://awpcp.com/contact/
