This has me so puzzled, it’s driving me crazy trying to figure it out. It’s downright weird.

I want to replace the adhasnoimage.png image that replaces no image when the ads rotate on the widget on another page (I read in this forum that’s how you do it). I know the only way to do that is to replace the file with my own of the same name at this address: http://480.176.myftpupload.com…..oimage.png (it says myftupupload because it is Go Daddy’s way of a temp site that is public but not followed – until I get ready to launch it and turn off my old site).

Through the File Manager plugin, I replaced it with my own custom image of the same name. In the thumbnail, the image of my custom file can be seen, but when you click on it to open, it opens the AWPCP default of a grayscale camera image. If I download the image to my computer (the custom one I uploaded), it’s my custom image that gets downloaded, not the default image.

On the front end, when the ads rotate, the default AWPCP (always referred to below as “default image”) image comes up in an ad with no other image.

Here’s the weird part. I do all this in Chrome, but if I do it in IE, my custom image comes up, not only in the ad rotation, but when I click and open it in File Manager. It works perfectly.

To double check all this, I opened the site in an html text editor to see what file is in there on the FTP site (to check the File Manager plugin). My custom image is in there as it should be.

Weirder still: If I go to both Chrome and IE on my laptop (above is on my desktop), my custom image comes up in both programs and works perfect. And it works perfect in Chrome on my tablet. But it still never works correctly in Chrome on my desktop.

I narrowed it down to not working on my desktop, so I searched my desktop computer for another copy of the file adhasnoimage – just in case something weird happened. I have the file I created my custom in, so I deleted it in my computer. I did a search on the FTP site for a file of that name to make sure it isn’t somewhere else and the only one is the custom one I created.

Plus, when the default image comes up, I do an Inspect of it in Chrome and it comes up with the location address (see above) where I have my custom one. If you paste the above address into your browser, what comes up is my custom image, not the default one, which has the same exact address as the custom one.

I even pasted the address into the field in Images/Attachments in Settings for No Image Placeholder URL to check it and the default image comes up. That’s what we have right now and you can see it here: http://480.176.myftpupload.com…..or-sale/

More than likely, an expert can answer this, but why does it work correctly on my laptop in both browser and not on my desktop and why does it work correctly in IE on my desktop, but not in Chrome on my desktop? Nothing makes sense, except: “it’s the cyber universe and weird things have been known to happen.”

Hi southwinds,

Which version of WP and AWPCP are you using?

This sounds like an issue with the Chrome browser on your desktop. Please try creating a new Chrome profile https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/2364824?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&hl=en

See if that helps.

This problem fixed itself. I check it every day and today it was working in all aspects. Why, I don’t know. A mystery to me
