Can anyone suggest a plugin or solution so that after a reader registers to create a listing, they return to the same page in classifieds? Now it automatically takes them to the home page

Hi southwinds,

Excellent question! I have sent it to the developer to see if this is a quick change we can make in the plugin. I will update this topic once I hear back. Of course, if anyone else has a solution, I’d love to see other responses as well!

Hi southwinds,

Thanks for your patience here.

I just heard back from the developer regarding the issue you reported, and here is what he said:

I just tested that workflow locally:

  1. Registration was required and anyone can register as a user of the website.
  2. If the Place Ad page is visited by an anonymous user, the plugin will display WordPress standard login form.
  3. The form includes a Register link.
  4. Clicking the Register link takes the user to the WordPress standard registration page.
  5. After they submit the required information (username and email), they are redirected back to the Place Ad page.
  6. The login form is shown again, including a message that advise the user to check the email to get the password.
  7. The user must have an email sent by WordPress (not us) with a link to generate/reset the password of the new account.
  8. Clicking the links opens a new tab/window where the user can reset the password.
  9. After clicking the link and resetting the password, users are offered a Login link. This login link, unfortunately, takes users to WordPress login page, where all connection to the action that initiated this interaction is lost.
  10. However, users should still have another tab/window displaying the login form on the Place Ad page. They can continue the submit listing process from there.

Could you please ask the customer to describe the workflow she/he is seeing?

Are they using any kind of Login Redirect or Membership plugin. When people get redirected to the wrong pages, it usually is because a plugin is configured to do so or does not take into account the

redirect_to

 parameters that we pass around.

Please let me know.

everything works from A thru D. Problem is when you are already registered and you are on the Place Ad page, you are asked to login before you can place an ad. You login and it takes you to the home page. You can then got and successfully place an ad, but it does not redirect you to the page from which you logged in, which, in this case is the Place an ad page.

I’ve learned something more from testing logins. If I go to place an ad page, and it says I must be logged in and I click to register, which I do, and it says it will send me a registration email, then it takes me to the home page. But I never get the email.

But – if I am on the site and I login just to login on the site and I have to register, I register, it says it will send me a confirmation email, then I get the email.

In other words, it’s not sending me a confirmation email when I register starting from the place an ad page. But it does send it when I just login to the site unrelated to the place an ad page.

I forgot add in last email: After I am registered, but not logged in, and I go to place an ad page, it asks me to login, which I do successfully. When I do, it takes me to the home page — not back to place an ad page.

Hi southwinds,

I have heard from the developer, who says “That’s not how the plugin is supposed to work. There must be something else causing the user to be redirected to the home page instead of the original page.”

Have you tried a conflict test to see if your theme or another plugin is causing this issue? Here is an article about how to test for theme and plugin conflicts with AWPCP, which may help pinpoint the issue: http://awpcp.com/forum/faq/how…..conflicts/

If that isn’t the issue, can we please get WP admin and FTP credentials to your site to look into this further?

We need the following information to debug the issue:
– A link to this forum thread
– WP admin username
– WP admin password
– WP login URL
– FTP username
– FTP password
– FTP servername/IP address

Contact us with that information and a link to this forum issue here: https://awpcp.com/contact/

I understand the process. When I get time, I’ll go through it
