I am new to the plug. Is there an easy way to customize the look of the classifieds (such as putting color background behind the categories) like http://grandrapids.postix.com?

Hi Jason,

Thank you for contacting us regarding this issue. I’m happy to help here.

All fonts, colors and spacing can be changed using custom CSS. Here is an article about how to use custom CSS with AWPCP in a way that doesn’t get overwritten on upgrade of AWPCP: http://awpcp.com/forum/faq/how…..ith-awpcp/

Many things about the plugin are completely customizable. We have a lot of resources for you to learn more about setting up the plugin. Have you seen our demo directory here: https://awpcp.com/classifieds/

We have several premium modules that may come in handy for what you are trying to develop. Read more about those here: https://awpcp.com/premium-modules/

You can also get up and running quickly using our Quick Start Guide https://awpcp.com/quick-start-guide/ and if you have questions along the way, please consult our support forum https://awpcp.com/forum/ and our extensive documentation https://awpcp.com/documentation/

I hope that helps. If there’s something else I can help you with, please let me know.

Thank you for these links and resources. If I understand correctly…to get icons next to the categories, I just need that premium module? Do you have a simple list of css for the basic layout (ie category title and background)?

Hi Jason,

Thanks for responding. Yes, the Category Icon Module will allow you to place icons next to the categories. You can read more about it here in our documentation, which has a lot of screenshots: https://awpcp.com/documentation/#premium-category and you can purchase it here: https://awpcp.com/downloads/category-icons-module/

For the custom CSS, did you see this part of the article I linked above:

How do I know what I want to put in this file?
– Good question! Use Firebug (http://getfirebug.com/) with IE or Firefox to determine what styles are being applied to any given element. Once you know what style is causing an issue, you can override it via the custom style CSS file.

I hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions or issues!
