I have been looking around the forums and I know many people have asked about this. Currently there is no way to add a sub category to a sub category. It shoudn’t be to difficult to add a third layer and I know many people want this functionality.

Thanks

Hi there,

We do understand the need of this functionality, but as mentioned in other posts, we do have plans to revamp the plugin to use custom post types and taxonomies, but this is a HUGE change and until we do it, that support isn’t something we can easily add.

ok so the plugin does support a third level of subcategories but the only problem is there is no option to post to the third level.

What i did was took a main category with children categories and moved it into another main category and it shows perfectly.

Now the only problem is posting to the third level category. I do believe I have found the template file that I would need to edit in order for it to show the third level as an option to post to but I am not sure what code to add.

Update, I got it to work but the only problem is when you are Placing a Ad and are selecting what category to put your ad in, it will show the third level with only one – just like the second level but functionality wise it works perfect. Any suggestion on how I can make the third level show as — instead of -.

If you want me to send you the file I edited to add a third level just ask and maybe you can update the plugin for evryone

Thank for the info. However, what you’re trying to do is something we’re already working on supporting, but we’re not there yet. We are able to release a new version this week with some big changes in it, so any customizations you’re doing may not work with that version. So I would suggest you look at the new version and work on it there.

Hi mike022,

I am sorry but this is not something we can provide a quick solution for. As stated earlier, we’re already working on supporting this feature, but we’re not there yet. If you need this today, you would have to try and hack the plugin for this.

unfortunately, my customer [email protected]  which bought the region module last week , stop developping the site using AWPCP, because of the impossibility to view a dropdown list of categories with more than 2 sub level,,

so we will probably have to buy another region module cause the compatibility between version of awpcp is not keep…

After checking other  ad systems.  I have recommended to my customer to wait until you make the change in the sub categorie dropdown select box…because it is the best i have tried.

Question : how can i be inform for the next future release of awpcp , because i dont want to miss it. and the newest version are not on the WORDPRESS site which keep the version 3.0.1 only

AWPCP core plugin releases don’t have a mailing list right now–the individual premium modules do, but I believe your client declined being on the list after buying the module. Updates to the core plugin are usually broadcast to your admin dashboard, so that’s the only way we have to notify you right now, unfortunately.

Hello

Know this is an older topic, but think it is still important, and just wanted to hear if there was any news on the categories issue, as we are going to open up for our site in the next 2 months.

Regards

Mads Molgaard

Hi Mads,

This is something still on our list but it’s contingent on moving to custom post types for AWPCP which is a HUGE project. We still plan on doing it, but I can’t provide a target release date yet.

Still no update on this almost 4 years later?  The further I delve into this plugin the more I wish I had chosen another.  Sigh…

Hi Jenni,

Thanks for weighing-in on this issue. This is coming in January, 2018, assuming that testing goes well.

Please contact us directly if you have further questions.

Hi Monica,

We are actively working on getting this change out, and have run into some delays. We expect the change 1st quarter this year. Thanks for asking, and for your patience!

Hi Monica,

Thanks for following up here. We are working on getting this developed and tested. Since this will be a big change, you can look for an email announcing it when it does happen!

Thanks for your patience. If there’s something else I can help you with, please let me know.
