Hi again!

When someone replies to an ad they click on the “Contact Username” link of the person who posted it.

I have an application where I want to change that link to a custom URL which is linked to a private messaging plugin. This is so that the conversation will remain within the website which is important in this case. The URL is a common set of characters until the final part which is the “username”.

Any ideas on whether this could be achieved, I am non-technical and it is beyond my capabilities at the current time.

Thanks and I hope I explained it well enough,

John

My feature request is smth similar with this.

When I import CSV ads, they have no author. Thus displaying “Contact Username” link is useless. So logic to hide this button is somewhat important. But! Ads do have phone numbers. It would be cool to have “SMS author” and “Call author” button as well.

Can we achieve this right now by using some CSS & PHP hacks?

Hi pasha_golub,

Thanks for your patience here. I asked my developer for some clarification on this issue, and here is what he said:

OK, so here’s my take on this:
1)  he can edit the Detail view HTML template to remove the “Contact <username>” link by editing the HTML directly.
2)  if he has other fields to use for calling, and they are definitely phone numbers, he can use HTML in that same template to output the mobile number into a clickable link.

This article will tell him how:  https://www.elegantthemes.com/blog/tips-tricks/telephone-links-how-to-add-call-able-links-ctas-to-your-website

Output the field code for the field (extra fields would help here a lot) into the href field with a “tel:” prefix.

I hope that helps. If there’s something else I can help you with, please let me know.

Thanks for the response. Yes, I did exactly as described. But my thought is that when you import CSV then some of your ads may have no owners. So it would be cool to additionally check if some user exists before output “Contact user” button.

Thanks a lot for great plugin.

Hey pasha_golub,

I wanted to follow up with additional insight from our developer. He said:

The CSV allows you to specify both contact name and user id.

But my thought is that when you import CSV then some of your ads may have no owners. So it would be cool to additionally check if some user exists before output “Contact user” button.

I believe this request is about not showing the contact link when the listing is not associated with a user. However, we send contact messages to the email address associated with the listing even when the listing is not associated with an existing user account.

We still try to send the message and allow the link to appear even when the listing has no email address on the database, but that’s an edge case. The contact email (and contact name too) are required fields both to create new listings and to import them.

I hope that helps clarify here.
