It would be nice if I could backup and restore just the classifieds information, the settings and the ads themselves. Mainly, I want to install a clean instance of Wordpress and restore my active data so I can test themes, etc with it.

Perhaps a workaround would be a FAQ entry on how to do this with MySQL.

Hi verta,

Have you tried a straight backup and restore of the database? (NOT the Wordpress export/import function) Did that work? (Can't say as I've tried it)

Well, this isn't what I was looking for, and it's not an immediate need. What I was hoping to suggest is a way to export just the classifieds, or just the settings as a download/upload function, separate from the entire DB.

This would be when I only want to move the classifieds data and settings to a new site, for example.

If I restore the DB, I restore all of the posts, pages, WP settings and other plug-in settings.

It's basically for when a full restore is overkill and would make supporting the plug-in for our customers simpler, since it separates it somewhat from the site.

Understood. I'll add it to the list. This kind of fits in with the bulk import request I've received as well...

I too would like to have export/import of the AWPCP data (settings, categories and ads). I am also trying to move an existing AWPCP install to a fresh WP install and found out the WP export/import didn't do it. I have lots of structured categories and really hate having to redo everything from scratch.

Thanks, Wayne, for weighing in on this issue. We are definitely considering this for a future version of the plugin.
